Awards Of Excellence!!
The GRMSA process involves members and record companies submitting entries, which are screened for eligibility and category placement. Voting members participate in the nominating process, determining five finalists in each category, and the final voting process, determining the winners. Submissions
Recording Academy members and record companies submit recordings and music videos during the eligibility year for recognition in the GRMSA process.
Screening
Over 350 experts review recordings from various fields to ensure they meet specific qualifications and are placed in appropriate categories. Screenings aim to ensure each entry is eligible and placed in its proper category, rather than making artistic or technical judgments about the recordings.
Nominating
First round ballots are sent to voting members in good dues standing, allowing them to vote in their areas of expertise. Members can vote in up to ten categories across three genre fields and six general fields. Ballots are tabulated by an independent accounting firm, which is not disclosed.
Final Voting
Academy voting members vote in ten categories across genre and general fields to determine winners after nominations are announced. To ensure quality, members vote only in fields where they are peers of the nominees.
Results
The independent accounting firm tabulates ballots, and winners are announced. Ties can occur, and winners receive a GRMS Award, while nominees receive a Nominee Medallion and Certificate.
